  • 5th edition of the ecological competition Eko Gwiazda / Jawor edition settled.

  • The winner was Roksana Siechniewicz from the Centre for Vocational and Continuing Education in Jawor.

What a treasure water is, and how to protect it. This was the instruction given to participants of the fifth edition of the Eko Gwiazda / Jawor edition organized by Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland. As in previous years, the task was to make a short film promoting pro-ecological attitudes with a particular emphasis on water resources. Several dozen teams from secondary schools from Jawor, Legnica, Świdnica and Wałbrzych entered the competition.

We observe that each year the environmental awareness among young people in the region is growing. In the fifth edition of Eko Gwiazd in Jawor, we recorded a record number of applications. I am encouraged that young people want to speak out loud about what is important not only for them, but for the whole of humanity. I can see that they are extremely creative and feel responsible for the planet. I am glad that, as a modern and neutral factory, we can motivate them to do so, – says Dr. Andreas Schenkel, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland.

All finalists also received an award.

Winning the competition is great news. Roksana is just finishing the first class of the economic technical school, of which I am a tutor. I am glad that in my class I have such creative and environmentally conscious pupils, but I am convinced that we need more activities such as the Eko Gwiazda competition / Jawor edition – says Dariusz Sojka, teacher from PCKZiU in Jawor and work supervisor.

I think that many of my colleagues know that they need to care of the environment, but it is still worth remembering what we can still do to save the planet’s resources. I am proud that my idea was appreciated by the Jury. It is a nice gift at the beginning of the holidays – Roksana Siechniewicz added.

Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland consistently implements the strategy of sustainable development based on ESG principles. The plant is a pioneer of zero emissions – it is powered entirely by renewable energy, and since 2021 has a carbon free footprint in all three ranges. Thus, it implements the strategy of the “Ambition 2039” concern, which assumes emission-free production and product until the end of the next decade. This also applies to all suppliers.
