Pre-Construction works have commenced at the site of the future Mercedes-Benz factory in Jawor. Two weeks after securing the building permit, Strabag – the first stage general contractor, has commenced work at the future site of the factory at Cukrownicza Street in Jawor. The commencement of construction work at the factory site has been long-awaited and represents a significant opportunity for the Jawor region – it is scheduled to be completed by mid-2019. At that time, the first of the new generation of 4 cylinder engines for all Mercedes-Benz cars will roll off the factory’s assembly line.
The overall value of Daimler AG’s investment in the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone is estimated at 500 million EUR and will create more than 500 new jobs at the factory alone. Polish engineers working at the new factory will undergo training at the Mercedes-Benz engine plant in Untertürkheim and the factory in Kölleda, Thuringia. Additionally, the company’s German employees will share their knowledge with their Polish colleagues on-site at the Jawor factory. The Company’s plans also include developing close cooperation agreements with the region’s vocational schools.
