On February 14, 2019, 5 eVito electric vehicles went into operation at Polish Post. The keys to the cars passed through the hands of Rene Achinger, director of Mercedes-Benz Vans Polska, and Rafał Merka, president of the board of Athlon Car Lease Polska and were picked up by Paweł Przychodzeń, a member of the management board of the Polish Postal Service (Poczta Polska).
Poczta Polska is a key European client of Daimler AG, which will participate in the Lighthouse Customers project aimed at including companies using Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the process of creating and improving solutions for electric fleets. As part of the project, selected customers will be testing eVito in daily use. The Polish Postal Service will take part, thanks to the cooperation of Mercedes-Benz Polska and Athlon Car Lease Polska and the overall testing period will last three months. The cars will be used at five key logistics points of the Polish Postal Service: Warsaw, Lublin, Krakow, Zabrze and Komorniki near Poznan. Mercedes-Benz Polska will cover the costs of training drivers in the acclimatization process towards electric vehicles.
– We are very happy that Poczta Polska joined the selected group of key European customers of Daimler AG and thanks to the eVito test will join the eDrive @ VANs project, which aims to rapidly develop the Mercedes-Benz electric fleet – according to Rene Achinger, director of Mercedes-Benz Vans. – He went on to say that the implementation of the eDrive @ VANs strategy is based on five pillars: a comprehensive ecosystem, industry fit, commercial profitability, and customer cooperation and technology transfer between different product and service development departments. Daimler AG has invited the Polish Postal Service, along with other European customers to participate in the project as part of co-creating and improving solutions that will make our electric fleet as profitable as possible, commercially and functionally. Only in direct day-to-day operations with customers are we able to test all aspects related to the work of the eVito and discover what needs to be further improved. I am convinced that the three-month trial of these vehicles by Poczta Polska, in addition to environmental benefits, will prove their efficiency and business functionality.
A vehicle that meets your needs
eVito equipped with a 41.4 kWh battery has a range of about 150 kilometers. The battery can be fully charged in approximately 6 hours with 84 kW (114 hp) and a maximum torque of 300 Nm, available from the first touch of the accelerator pedal which provides a dynamic ride. The maximum speed, optionally available, is 120 km/h, which allows for flexibility both inside and outside the city.
eVito vehicles handed over to the Polish Postal Service have a total length of 5140 mm, a maximum payload of 1073 kg and a maximum volume of 6.6 m3. The installation of the battery under the vehicle allows unlimited use of the entire cargo hold. The maximum permissible gross weight is 3200 kg.
The long-term goal of the Daimler Group’s eDrive @ VANs strategy is to provide electric drives for the full range of Mercedes-Benz vans.
